CourtCare in Marion and Polk Counties

Marion and Polk County will now be offering CourtCare to anyone conducting business with the courts beginning September 5, 2017. CourtCare is a no-cost drop-in childcare program that is funded by House Bill 3067 and donations from community partners.  Many of our customers have no childcare options while conducting business at the courts and would otherwise have to choose between keeping their kids in the courtroom, unattended in courthouse hallways or at home without proper supervision.   CourtCare offers a safe, supportive environment and a full range of enriching, age-appropriate activities for young children to enjoy while their parents are involved in court. There is no charge to parties utilizing these services.

In Marion County, CourtCare will be offered at the YMCA (685 Court Street, Salem) on Monday - Thursday from 8AM-5:15PM for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. Services in Marion County are only available to those that are conducting business with the courts at any of our three locations. Children are accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis so parties are urged to make a reservation (503-399-2753) as soon as possible.

In Polk County, CourtCare provides free childcare for parents & guardians who need to conduct business with the court system or local social service agencies including, but not limited to: Polk County Behavioral Health, Public Health, DHS, or Housing. Care will be offered at Family Building Blocks (182 SW Academy Street Suite 216, Dallas) on Tuesday & Thursday from 1-5:30PM and Wednesday from 8AM-5:30PM for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years old. Please call FBB (503) 623-9664) to make a reservation or if you are unsure if your childcare need qualifies.

Soon the YMCA, Family Building Blocks and the courts will be distributing flyers and brochures.

Please consider including information about CourtCare in letters to your clients who may need this service.

If you would like a copy of the CourtCare brochure or any additional information, please visit https://midvalleycourtcare.org/. For questions specific to Marion County, feel free to contact Andrea Riley (Andrea.L.Riley@ojd.state.or.us).
