Discipline & Discrimination
How Professional Conduct Rules and Proposed Rules Deal With Prejudice in the Practice of Law

Expect a lively discussion as panelists Nena Cook (Sussman Shank), John Gleason (Oregon State Bar Disciplinary Counsel) and Bonnie Richardson (Folawn Alterman & Richardson) review recent incidents that have prompted questions about how the Rules of Professional Conduct address behavior or communications that manifest as prejudice against a protected group.  The presentation will also explore how a proposed rule that prohibits discrimination explicitly, to be considered by the OSB House of Delegates in November, will play out in various contexts.
