The 2015 Biennial MCBA Memorial Service is scheduled for December 10, 2015 from 3:00-4:30pm at the Marion County Court House Courtroom 2-A, 100 High St. NE, Salem, Oregon. At this memorial service, the Marion County Bar Association recognizes members that have passed in the past two years for their significance to the Salem legal community. Court Appointed Special Advocates are community volunteers appointed by a judge to advocate for abused and neglected children in state care. A CASA volunteer may be the only constant in that child’s life.
The need is great — on average, over 1,000 children in Marion County are in foster care.
CASA of Marion County will launch a Monthly GIving Campaign this Friday, September 18, at Illahee Country Club. Marion County Commissioner Kevin Cameron will join us, as well as Lené Garrett, the new Executive Director of CASA of Marion County.

On October 27, 2015, the Judicial Selection Committee will interview candidates for recommendations to the Governor. Interviews will take place throughout the day on the Fifth Floor of the Marion County Courthouse, 555 Liberty Street NE., Salem, Oregon 97301. The Committee will provide interview times to candidates as soon as possible after receipt of all applications.
It is expected that additional investigation and interviews of candidates by the Governor’s Office will take place during November and December, that she will announce her appointments in December and that our new judges will be sworn and take the bench early January 2016.
