Armstrong’s divorce and family law practice focuses on child custody, parenting time, spousal and child support, property division, adoption, and guardianship proceedings. He currently serves on the Board of the Marion County Bar Association, the Executive Committee for the Oregon State Bar Family Law Section, and is a judge for Teen Court and for Mock Trial and Moot Court at Willamette University School of Law. Armstrong joined GHR as an associate in 2004.

Jim Mountain elected to AAAL

jimmountain.pngJim Mountain, a shareholder in the Portland and Salem offices of Harrang Long Gary Rudnick P.C., was elected to be a member of the American Academy of Appellate Lawyers at the Academy’s recent meeting. The American Academy of Appellate Lawyers was founded in 1990 to recognize outstanding appellate lawyers and promote the improvement of appellate advocacy and the administration of the appellate courts. Academy membership is open only to a person who possesses a reputation of recognized distinction as an appellate lawyer. To be eligible for membership, a nominee’s practice must have focused substantially on appeals during at least the last 15 years. Academy membership is limited to 500 members in the United States. Membership in the Academy is by invitation only. Candidates for membership must be nominated by a present Academy member, reviewed and approved by a Membership Evaluation Committee, and elected at a regular Academy meeting.

Presentation by Bill Bradbury

The Oregon Environmental Council has teamed up with Secretary of State Bill Bradbury to bring the “An Inconvenient Truth” slide show to communities around Oregon. Secretary Bradbury was one of the first 50 people to be trained by Al Gore to give his slide show. Bill has adapted the slide show to heavily focus on the effects of global warming on the Pacific Northwest. March 18, Noon to 1:00 p.m. Willamette University College of Law, Room 217.

Conference to Examine the Implications of Medical Science on Legal Decision Making

SALEM, Ore. — The Willamette Law Review and Center for Dispute Resolution are pleased to sponsor “Law of the Body,” a one-day symposium examining the implications of medical science on legal decision making and disputes related to the science of the body and brain.

The conference will be held March 7, 2008, at Willamette University College of Law in Salem, Ore. Registration will begin at 8 a.m., and the event will close at 4:45 p.m.
