At this memorial service, the Marion County Bar Association recognizes members that have passed in the past two years for their significance to the Salem legal community. The Marion County Bar Association is sad to report that our friend and colleague, James D. Tiger, passed away on July 4, 2009.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 9 at Stayton High School Auditorium.
Marion County’s Trial Court Administrator, Jim Murchison, is retiring on June 30 after 40 years of working for the Courts. There will be an informal “open house” from 1pm-3pm on Tuesday, June 30 in the administration wing with refreshments. Please invite people to drop in and wish him well.

Description: The Marion County Family Law Advisory Committee is inviting all Family Law Judges, Attorneys, Mediators, and Custody Evaluators to attend our extended training/ meeting/event. The purpose of the event is to provide input to the FLAC, meet the mediators and custody evaluators, conduct domestic violence training, and to facilitate discussion on current issues. Gary Martin and Presiding Judge William M. Horner recently announced the selection of Gene Berg as the new Trial Court Administrator of the 12th Judicial District (Polk County Circuit Court).
Gene has worked at the OJD for 20+ years, most recently as a Senior Business Analyst with the Enterprise Technology Services Division (ETSD), and has been involved at the enterprise-wide level with several key technology implementation projects, including the initial key efforts towards implementation of the e-Court project. Gene also served as a key team member with the Court Programs and Services Division (formerly called Trial Court Programs Division) within OSCA, and participated in a job rotation during that assignment as a Court Operations Supervisor at the Marion County Circuit Court. Gene also briefly worked for the Marion County Board of Commissioners as a Management Analyst. In these various assignments Gene has had the opportunity to lead diverse projects and staff; to conduct research and analysis for, and recommend technological and process improvements to, OJD management and Judges; and to represent the OJD with community partners and stakeholders.
Gene earned his B.S degree in Public Policy and Administration from Western Oregon State University.
