This address will be streamed live to the jury assembly room on the 5th floor of the downtown courthouse. Judges, court staff, attorneys and the public are welcome to come to the courthouse to view this address for free.

Annual State of the Courts Address

This is the seventh time the MCBA and Salem City Club have joined to sponsor this event.  However, this is the first opportunity to hear Chief Justice Balmer after Paul DeMuniz retirement.

All MCBA members are invited to attend.
A luncheon is served:  if you wish to attend the luncheon please RSVP to RSVP@salemcityclub.com, or call(503) 370-2808 by Wednesday, January 9.

If you haven’t reserved a spot, you may still attend but food may not be available.  MCBA members will be charged the same $12 rate as City Club members for the luncheon, but may attend without luncheon for free.  A $5 donation is requested, but not required.

This is an important event each year and is broadcast to all courthouses in the state.  In the past, MCBA members have been reluctant to ask questions of the chief.  If there are MCBA members who would like to ask a question but are reluctant to do so, Salem City Club members are willing to ask them for you in a confidential way.  Send any questions to carlamikke@yahoo.com, and City Club will arrange to have your questions asked.  All questions will be confidential, and introduced only as “an MCBA member has asked”.  After the luncheon, all emails with questions will be deleted.  It is City Club’s hope that this will give MCBA members the opportunity to ask important questions.
