Moved to the Courthouse – Thursday May 3 Family Law Mentor/Mentee Meeting

Judge Rhoades has suggested that this month’s family law mentor/mentee meeting be moved to the courthouse so that judges and referees can participate AND so it can be video recorded to that judges who miss the presentation can watch it later at their convenience.

Lauren Saucy will explain how the court divides marital property in a dissolution proceeding on
May 3, 2012 beginning promptly at noon in courtroom 3
(Judge Burton’s courtroom).

This is a practical skills course for attorneys and judges, in that the process is not easy, particularly because of recent appellate decisions and legislation.  This is a practical skills, how-to-do-it presentation that will explain the use of the joint asset statement, statutory presumptions, inherited and gifted property and, of course the Supreme Court’s decision in Kunze.  This overview will make the 256 page chapter on dividing property in the Oregon State Bar’s CLE online manual that Lauren co-authored more accessible.

An hour of CLE credits will be applied for.
